Acupuncture Before Embryo Transfer: Preparing for the Journey
Embarking on the path of assisted reproduction can be overwhelming. With all of the appointments and procedures, acupuncture offers a moment of peace. Before your embryo transfer, acupuncture sessions help prepare your body and mind for what’s to come.
- Eases Stress and Anxiety: The journey to conception can be emotionally draining. Acupuncture before your embryo transfer offers a quiet space to release tension and anxiety. By restoring balance within, it sets the stage for a smoother procedure.
- Boosts Uterine Blood Flow: Good blood flow to the uterus is crucial for successful implantation. Acupuncture has been shown to improve circulation to the reproductive organs, creating an inviting environment for the embryo to settle in.
- Improves Endometrial Lining: Acupuncture has been shown to improve the structure of the endometrial lining and positively influence the conditions of the uterus for embryo implantation.
- Balances Hormones: Hormonal balance is key to fertility. Acupuncture helps regulate hormone levels, ensuring your body is primed for embryo implantation.
Acupuncture After Embryo Transfer: Nurturing the Seed
After the transfer, acupuncture provides gentle support as the embryo begins its journey.
- Promotes Relaxation and Implantation: Post-transfer acupuncture sessions offer a moment of calm amidst the anticipation. By promoting relaxation and blood flow, they support the embryo’s journey towards successful implantation.
- Alleviates Side Effects: Fertility treatments can bring discomfort. Acupuncture offers natural relief from symptoms like bloating or cramping, helping you feel more at ease.
- Emotional Resilience: The wait after embryo transfer can be emotionally taxing. Acupuncture provides a space to find strength and hope during this time of uncertainty.
Shen Medicine Acupuncture
Our licensed acupuncturists have treated hundreds of patients with the Pre/Post IVF Transfer protocol on their day of transfer and the days before and after.
This protocol is based on a 2001 German study that showed a greater pregnancy rate in women who had these specific treatments immediately before and after embryo transfer (42.5%) compared to those who did not (26.3%). These treatments are designed to lower stress hormone production, stabilize the endocrine system, and relax the uterus to decrease the chance of uterine contractions.
